Summary
The Code on Wages, 2019 consolidates and replaces four earlier laws — the Payment of Wages Act, the Minimum Wages Act, the Payment of Bonus Act and the Equal Remuneration Act. It establishes a universal floor wage, statutory minimum wages, timely payment of wages and bonus, and equal pay, and applies to all establishments including coal mines. The four Labour Codes were brought into force on 21 November 2025.
