Summary
The Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) Rules, 2023, in force from 1 December 2023, are made under the Van (Sanrakshan Evam Samvardhan) Adhiniyam (Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980, as amended). They prescribe the procedure for prior approval to divert forest land for non-forest use such as mining, including proposal processing, compensatory afforestation and conditions of approval. These Rules replaced the Forest (Conservation) Rules, 2022.
